Q: How do I know that my voltage indicator is working if the LEDs are off?

A: In order to determine if a Voltage Indicator is working when the LEDs are not lit would be to see if the lights are on when the source is known to be on. The process would start by looking at the LEDs and make sure that they are flashing or continuously on when the disconnect is closed. From there, the operator would exercise the disconnect and watch the lights go out and the stored energy go away. The long life LEDs are redundant so the likelihood of both of them failing at the same time is extremely low. If power from the known source to the indicator is on and the LEDs are not, an electrician should be notified immediately.
