"Safety by design" is an approach to reducing risk that involves designing products, systems, and environments with safety in mind from the very beginning. Reducing risk is an ongoing process that involves identifying potential hazards and implementing measures to mitigate them. Whether you're at home, at work, or on the go, there are always steps you can take to reduce risk and ensure your safety. By exploring the concept of safety by design you can improve safety and create a safer environment for yourself and those around you.

In this webinar, we will be exploring and demonstrating the benefits of incorporating safety by design principles into your Electrical Safety Programs. The NFPA 70E standard for electrical safety has existed for many decades, and yet to this day compliance is difficult to achieve for many organizations. With our expert guidance, you will learn how to enhance your compliance efforts, improve safety, and reduce Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedure times. We will delve into the Process for Establishing and Verifying an Electrically Safe Work Condition using Permanent Electrical Safety Devices (PESDs), in compliance with NFPA 70E 120.5, and show you how to make compliance and maintenance safer, smarter, and more productive.

Objectives:

  • Strategies for avoiding citations and enhancing safety in LOTO procedures, one of OSHA's top most cited violations.
  • How safety by design principles can be applied to the creation of PESDs to improve compliance and productivity.
  • A live demonstration of the use of a voltmeter with PESD test points to perform an absence of voltage and live-dead-live test.
  • A comparison of various electrical safety devices including voltage presence LED indicators, voltmeter-compatible test points, and combination PESDs to help you choose the right product for your specific applications and procedures.
