Q: Why is my GracePort only rated for 5A?
A: The label “120VAC, 5A (MAX) FOR COMPUTER USE ONLY” is a requirement to meet CSA certification standards for certain GracePort configurations. This rating limits the outlet to 5 amps to comply with CSA rules when used specifically for computer equipment.
However, most GracePorts are UL Recognized and rated for up to 15 amps for general-purpose use. If you do not require CSA certification and want the 5A label and related CSA restrictions removed, you can order a version with the suffix “-T105” added to the part number. This option removes the 5A labeling and associated CSA certification, allowing full 15A usage.
