An Introduction to Vibration Analysis | Part 3/3

The Basics of Vibration Analysis includes: Amplitude (How Much), Frequency (How Often), and Phase (a measure of Relative Motion). Part 3 will focus on converting the raw transducer Time Waveform into a Frequency Spectrum. Defining the Frequency Spectrum opens a whole new fault detection and analysis capability in on-line trending and monitoring.

We will discuss the Vibration Fault Periodic Table frequency groupings (Synchronous, Harmonic, Sub-Synchronous, Non-Synchronous, and Modulation. Numerous examples will be reviewed to lock in the new nomenclature and provide a working knowledge of the VFPT “Structure” and “Method”.

About our Presenter: Dan Ambre, PE, is the founder and principal engineer at Full Spectrum Diagnostics. The FSD Machinery Analysis Division specializes in Experimental Modal Analysis (EMA) and Operating Deflection Shape (ODS) machinery diagnostics. Their Vibration Training and Certification Division makes use of these unique analyses by incorporating them into our course materials for a “real-life” training experience.
