Operation Christmas Child

Merry Christmas!!  We are just 6 days away from Christmas and I can not wait!  As a quick reminder, Grace Engineered Products will be closed Christmas Eve (12/24) and Christmas Day (12/25) so our employees can spend time with family and friends.  We will also be closed New Year’s Eve (12/31) and New Year’s Day (1/1).  We hope you all have a spectacular and safe holiday season!

I think it was during our monthly potluck in October when the idea for Operation Christmas Child was first mentioned.  We were sitting having a delicious lunch when Jane, Phil’s wife, suggested we use our jean money (the $5 everyone pays each time he or she chooses to wear jeans on Fridays) to fill shoe boxes with toys and gifts for underprivileged kids.  Each year we use the money to help a charity and we all look forward to it.  Many of us had not heard of Operation Christmas Child before, but it sounded like an awesome idea!  So, we started collecting shoe boxes!  Edna, Jane and Stephanie took the money and went shopping for the goodies to fill them and one afternoon, Team Grace piled in the lunch room and got to work.  We filled 70 boxes for kids up to 14 (I think).  It was so much fun!  And we want to send a big thank you to Edna, Jane and Stephanie for taking the lead on this and getting all the goodies for us to send!

I don’t know about you guys, but I really need some warm-fuzzy inducing stuff today.  Christmas is next week and with all the bad news floating around from the Sandy Hook shooting, well, I need to feel all gooey inside.  Honestly, I need to see children laughing.  We searched for a video or two with a Christmas theme, but it was harder than you might imagine to find “the one”.  We decided on just babies laughing and that led us to some soldiers reunions with loved ones.  If you are in need of some “warm fuzzies” we hope this does it for you!

Happy HumpDay!!  We will catch you on Friday with some fun Christmas stuff!!
